Cleo Discovers the Warm Laundry Basket

The laundry was warm, soft and freshly dried. Cleo took one look at the basket and decided the folding could wait.

The dryer had just finished.

Cleo's owner carried a basket of warm towels and clothes into the bedroom, placed it on the floor and turned away for what felt like five seconds.

That was more than enough time.

The basket was occupied

When the owner turned back, Cleo was already inside.

She had somehow arranged herself perfectly between two towels, one paw resting over the edge of the basket as if she had booked the spot days in advance.

“Cleo, I need to fold those.”

Cleo slowly blinked.

No movement.

A very comfortable protest

The owner lifted one T-shirt from the side of the basket.

Cleo immediately stretched across the remaining laundry and made herself twice as long.

Another shirt was removed.

Cleo tucked her paws underneath herself and settled even deeper.

The message was becoming clear: the laundry was no longer laundry. It was bedding.

The negotiation

A proper cat bed sat only a few feet away.

It was soft. It was clean. It had been bought specifically for Cleo.

She ignored it completely.

Instead, she rested her chin on a warm towel and closed her eyes.

The folding stopped.

Cleo had won.

Ten minutes later...

The owner returned with a second empty basket and quietly transferred the clothes one by one.

Cleo never moved.

By the time the original basket was empty, she was asleep at the bottom of it.

Apparently, even without the laundry, it was still her bed.
